UIC-TNAU aims to promote Entrepreneurship in the minds of students and scholars in the field of Biotechnology.
This workshop focused on the Entrepreneurship opportunities in Biotechnology, Intellectual Property Rights, Startup funding and Interaction with Successful Entrepreneurs.
The participants who attended the workshop were from 13 different organizations including 3rd & final year UG students, PG & Ph. D scholars, incubates in Business Incubator & entrepreneurs.
Dr. Vidyashankar Balasubramanyan of Leaf Cleantech, Bengaluru interacted with the participants on the various opportunities available in life sciences.
Dr. R. Rajkumar of Cellzyme, who is also a BIG (Biotechnology Ignition Grant) grantee focused mainly on the funding available for the right innovations.
Dr. T. Alagumani, Professor and Head, Department of Trade & Intellectual Property Rights, CARDS, TNAU detailed the different kinds of IP such as Patents, Trade Marks, Designs, Copyright etc., to the participants and emphasized the need of patenting innovations to protect the interest of the research/product/process.
The other key speakers of the event were Mr. Palaneeswar, Jay Pee Farms, Virudhunagar; Mr. Arul Murugan, Snack Experts, Chennai and Mr. Arun Viswanathan, DnD Foods, Coimbatore who narrated their journey of entrepreneurship.
Mr. A. B. Chakravarthy, Villgro Foundations, Chennai briefed on approaching the venture capitalists/angel investors.
